1. 🔍 Overview

Short version: Wordcraft is designed with privacy in mind. You do not need an account. We do not sell your data. Game progress is stored only in your own browser.

This Privacy Policy describes how Wordcraft ("we", "our", or "us") handles information when you visit and play the Wordcraft daily word puzzle at this website. By using Wordcraft, you agree to the practices described below.

If you have any questions, please contact us.

2. 📦 Data we collect

The table below summarises the information processed when you use Wordcraft:

Data type Where stored Purpose
Today's game state (guesses, result) Your browser Resume an in-progress puzzle
Win/loss statistics and streak Your browser Display personal stats on the game page
Sound preference (on/off) Your browser Remember your audio setting
IP address & browser user-agent Server logs (auto-deleted after 30 days) Security, abuse prevention, aggregate traffic analysis
Advertising identifiers (via Google AdSense) Google's servers Display relevant advertisements — see §5

We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information unless you voluntarily submit the contact form.

3. 💾 Local storage

Wordcraft uses your browser's local storage (not cookies) to save:

  • The puzzle number and your guesses for the current day
  • Your cumulative statistics (games played, win rate, current streak, best streak)
  • Your sound on/off preference

This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to our servers. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this domain, or by using private/incognito mode (note: progress will not persist across sessions in private mode).

4. 🍪 Cookies

Wordcraft itself sets no first-party cookies. However, third-party services embedded on this site — specifically Google AdSense and optional analytics — may set their own cookies. These are governed by those providers' privacy policies.

You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling advertising cookies will not disable ads; it will make them less relevant to your interests.

5. 📢 Advertising (Google AdSense)

Wordcraft displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google may use cookies and device identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Key points about AdSense on Wordcraft:

  • We do not share any personally identifiable information with advertisers.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings.
  • You may also opt out via the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

For more information on how Google uses data from sites that use its advertising services, visit Google's Privacy & Terms.

6. 📊 Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics tools to understand aggregate usage patterns — such as which pages are most popular and what device types visit the site. If analytics are enabled:

  • Data is collected in aggregate and not tied to individual identities.
  • No full IP addresses are stored by our analytics provider.
  • We do not use analytics data for advertising profiling.

If we introduce analytics in future, this policy will be updated and an effective date will be noted at the top of this page.

7. 🔗 Third-party services

This site loads resources from the following third-party domains:

  • fonts.googleapis.com — Google Fonts (typography). Google may log font requests; see Google Privacy Policy.
  • Google AdSense — advertising network described in §5.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

8. ✅ Your rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Deletion — request that we delete any personal data we hold.
  • Portability — receive your data in a portable format.
  • Objection — object to data processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

Because Wordcraft stores almost all user-specific data locally in your browser, you can exercise most of these rights directly by clearing your browser's local storage. For any data held on our servers (e.g. contact form submissions, server logs), please contact us.

EU/EEA residents may also lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.

9. 👶 Children's privacy

Wordcraft is a general-audience word game. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. 🔄 Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of Wordcraft after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

Material changes (such as new data collection practices or new advertising partners) will be highlighted on the game page for at least 14 days.
